As the university is approaching its 70th birthday, Huazhong University of Science of Technology (HUST) received a RMB 100-million donation from its alumnus Huang Li, vice president of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and chairman of Wuhan Guide Infrared Co., Ltd. It is HUST's first 9-figure donation since it began its 70th Anniversary celebration, and one of the largest donations from alumni.
华中科技大学即将迎来70周岁生日，3月22日全国工商联副主席、武汉高德红外股份有限公司董事长、校友黄立向母校捐款1亿元。这是华中科技大学启动70周年校庆的首笔亿元捐赠，也是学校收到校友最大金额的捐赠之一。

Guide Infrared, founded in 1999 by Huang, has been committed to an independent path of innovation and R&D and has successfully developed infrared chips protected by intellectual property rights. "I want to do my bit to pay tribute to the guidance of my teachers and give back to my alma mater."
黄立1999年创立高德红外公司，坚持走自主创新研发道路，研制成功具有自主知识产权的中国红外芯片。“我希望尽我绵薄之力，致敬恩师的教导，回馈母校的培养。”
In July 2021, the university and the company jointly set up the "Advanced Infrared Detection" laboratory to promote the development of infrared detection in China. Huang's donation will be used mainly to support the development of the university.
2021年7月，校企双方联合成立华中科技大学—高德红外“先进红外探测”联合实验室，共同推进我国红外探测领域的发展。黄立此次的捐款将主要用于支持学校建设与发展。
