The Happy Cities of China Forum 2021 was held in Beijing on Dec. 30, 2021, unveiling this year's list of "China's happiest cities." In the category of provincial capitals and municipalities with independent planning status, Wuhan ranks fifth behind Chengdu, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Changsha.
12月30日，2021中国幸福城市论坛在北京举行，揭晓了“2021中国最具幸福感城市”榜单。在省会及计划单列市这一评选类别中，武汉位列第五，仅次于成都、杭州、宁波以及长沙。
Co-sponsored by the Oriental Outlook magazine and the Liaowang Institute think tank, both run by the Xinhua News Agency, the forum has been successfully held for 15 years in a row, during which it has selected over 80 happy cities of China.
该活动由新华社《瞭望东方周刊》、瞭望智库共同主办，至今已连续成功举办15年，累计推选出80余座幸福城市。

The selections consider nine primary indicators, namely, employment, residents' income, quality of life, ecological environment, urban appeal, public safety, education, transportation, and health service, as well as over a hundred secondary indicators which are related to people's happy life.
幸福城市的评选项目包括就业指数、居民收入指数、生活品质指数、生态环境指数、城市吸引力指数、公共安全指数、教育指数、交通指数、医疗健康指数等9个一级指标以及上百个二级细分指标。
"This year marks the first time that Wuhan has been selected as one of the happiest cities in China," said Dai Wenming, spokesperson of the forum. Wuhan has developed rapidly as the core city of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and is one of the most important manufacturing bases in central China.
“今年是武汉首次入选中国最具幸福感城市。”中国幸福城市论坛发言人戴闻名说，武汉是长江经济带的核心城市以及中部最重要的制造业基地之一。
